ACTIVE MEMBERS:
Faithful Catholics who are able to attend a hour & a half meeting each week and do two hours active spiritual work prescribed by the Praesidium.
AUXILIARY MEMBERS:
Faithful Catholics who pray the rosary and tessera prayers each day to Our Blessed Mother for her intentions.
AUXILIARY FUNCTION:
Held once a year to thank our auxiliaries for their prayerful help which helps all the active members all over the world, especially in the troubled parts of the world, to bring spiritual help and comfort to those who need it.
ACIES:
The ACIES is the great centeral annual function of the Legion when we reconsecrate ourselves to Our Blessed Mother, Queen of the Legion, from her to receive strength and blessing for another year. This event takes place around March 25th, the feast of the Annunciacion. All active and auxiliaries are invited to attend.
ANNUAL GENERAL REUNION: The annual General Reunion of members is held in December at a time near as possible to the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
PRAESIDIUM:
The Praesidium is the smallest unit of the Legion of Mary that is with the parish with the permission of the parish priest. Each praesidium, through their next higher council, is affiliated to the Concilium in Ireland.
CURIA:
When two or more praesidia have been established in a town, city, or district a governing body called a curia shall be set up.
COMITIUM:
Where two or more curia exist certain power of superintendence shall be styled a comitium. Praesidia may also be attached to a comitium. The Seattle Comitium governs the Legion of Mary’s 10 Curiae and 13 Praesidia in the State of Washington.
SENATUS:
The senatus is the Seattle Comitium’s next higher Council, which can include several states, and they have governing superintendence over the praesidia, curiae, and the Seattle Comitium.
The next higher council of the Seattle Comitium is the San Francisco Senatus. The San Francisco includes Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and the Northern parts of California and Nevada.
CONCILIUM LEGIONIS MARIAE:
All praesidia, curiae, comitia, and senatus in the world are under the governing body of our world wide headquarters in Ireland called the Concilium Legionis Mariae.
